The 2 1/2ton fuel truck was a vital cog in the US military machine during WW2 supporting the American drive for air supremacy with its work refueling and oiling a whole manner of aircraft. In fact, it was a variant of a commonly-used 2 1/2ton truck that had its cargo bed replaced with a massive tank and pump mechanism, the side of the tank featured doors which allowed the crew access to pump the fuel. It was typically crewed by 2, featured 6-wheel drive which allowed it to tackle poor surfaces, and was powered by a 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine. It particularly proved its worth once the US began to capture airfields near the front line without refueling fa
