The 1988 model that became the second generation of the NSR250R was released November 1987. Major changes where implemented from the previous model to further advance the bike, including the enlarging of the carburetor venture size and the utilization of a PGM system, together with the use of RC valves and triple-coated pistons. These provided their true capabilities on circuits and winding mountain passes throughout Japan, making this a best-selling model.

This kit realistically recreates the form of the bike based on meticulous data collection carried out using the actual vehicle. The stem and rear wheel axis utilize metal screws which allow easy assembly while realizing strength. Metal springs are used in the rear suspension, while the various types of hoses are recreated using rubber hoses. The colors on the decals are completely opaque due to the use of silkscreen printing that gives outstanding color strength. This two-in-one model lets you recreate both the Fighting Red/Ross White and Terra Blue/Ross White color schemes that where set when the bike was initially released.

The kit is 1:12 scale, with a total length of 165mm, total width 54mm, and total height of 88mm.
