F-15J Eagle - JASDF Gifu Air Base Experimental Squadron
Fujimi 32002 1:48 F-15J Eagle JASDF Manual
The F-15J Eagle is the fighter which the Japanese Air Self Defence Force decided
to adopt in 1977 as a successor to the F-104J interceptor. The first F-15J was
delivered in the USA in July 1980, and arrived at the Gifu Base in March 1981.
It underwent practical testing for approximately 6 months under the control of the
flight test group. At present, the interceptor is deployed at the Shintabaru, Chitose,
Hyakuri and Komatsu basis. An external difference between the F-15J and F-15C is the
TEWS antenna which the former aircraft has at the top of the left vertical fin.
