Fujimi 30006 1:48 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D9 Manual
The Focke-Wulf Fw. 190D-9 "Dora" was the first new Fw.190 model to go into series production, following the
highly successful Fw. 190A; the Fw. 190B & C models being abandoned in favor of the Fw. 190D. Nicknamed the
"long-nose" fighter by Allied pilots, the Fw. 190D was appropriately named, being some 4 ft. 5.25 in. longer
than the Fw. 190A-8. The added length was the result of the installation of the Jumo 213A-1 inverted V12
liquid-cooled engine in the D model, replacing the 14-cylinder air-cooled radial engine that had powered
The A model aircraft. The rear fuselage was also lengthened to counterbalance the new engine. The
Fw. 190D-9 was operational through the close of hostilities in Europe.
