During the early stages of WW2, the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 half-track was greatly involved in the German success of the Blitzkreig style warfare. Seen carrying various kinds of loads such as ordnance and equipment, the one often seen on many frontlines was the infantry carrier which could accommodate 12 passengers including the driver and commander. The half-track became known as the reliable feet for personnel belonging to armored divisions. 1943 saw the debut of the Ausf.D variant which had a simple construction to improve productivity. Approximately 10,000 Ausf.D were produced and were used up until the end of the war.
