Under the light of Morrslieb, the Chaos Moon, the flames roared, consuming the stout timbers of the village buildings. Though the flames were bright, the moonlight warped and leeched their color, lending a sickly greenish tinge to their light and causing them to cast strange, flickering shadows in the streets. As the winds stirred the flames, shadows moved in a strange proxy of life. If one looked close, however, one might see some of the shadows move even when the wind did not. Some of the shadows were not shadows at all.
